time flies like superman, it’s my third year here in adelaide.. and i’m proud to say i’ve had the good sense to move into another room.. i’m still in the same house, on the same level actually!

BUT. my new room is almost twice the size of my previous one.. and that makes me extremely happy :D

p1070801

p1070804

i’m rather happy with my shoe racks.. call me little miss neat!

p1070803

my huge bookcase from ikea, only $39! and that mirror for $10 (:

ikea is like my new best friend.

i miss everyone at home.

p1070796

the sumptuous meal my mommy prepared. dad helped too!

p1070797

i sneaked this photo when my parents were laughing at how i have to take photos of everything :P i can’t remember why my brother has that dubious expression!

mommygirlies

taken at the airport, sitting at our favourite wall. my girlies are the best (: even if the airport was a stopover to their mahjong session tsk tsk. oh! regina! yunho says you’re his favourite and asked if you have a boyfriend. haha.

this chinese new year was very fun.. the family travelled to my granddad’s hometown, bagan pasir, which is a kampong/fishing village. good times!

p1070713

right opp our house.. according to my dad.. there’s a pig farm down that tiny lane. and they used to swim in the sea just next to the farm. dirty!

p1070716

to the left of our house.

p1070711

that’s my daddy sweeping the water into the drain after the rain. so that we wouldnt have to wade around. (okay a little exagerrated heh)

p1070720

to the right.. my mommy was sitting there so i got her to look melancholy for me (:

p1070723

after our decorations! me and my brother climbed on the side fences to place the oranges. and he’s sitting on the right.. desperately trying to look like a kampong boy!

p1070727

our new year’s eve dinner.. we were all trying to jump into the photo :P

p1070729

my many cousins. and my happy granddad and grandma.

p1070730

this is the old people photo.. with my parents and uncles and aunts.

p1070751

on new year’s day we all pray at the three temples in the kampong. the wooden planks have been there since forever.. not very steady but very fun to walk on! me and my brother were discussing what we would do if we fell in. eew!

p1070758

my eldest cousin.. looking like he might jump :P

p1070742

oh to bring in the new year (so to speak), we always set off firecrackers. very loud! i took a video and my brother stood behind me covering my ears. so sweet!

and really. what’s chinese new year without a little gambling?

p1070771

the little kids playing mahjong..

p1070773

because the adults were too busy setting up their own gambling den! notice a tiny space near the door? that’s mine.. i just excused myself to photo some evidence :)

p1070779

my brother, acting cool after we’ve had dinner. he tried to ride one of the scooters/bikes with my dad pillon-ing, and teaching him. then he accelerated when he was supposed to brake and fell. being gambling season, my aunt bought the bike license plate number and won first prize! so she treated us to dinner at this restaurant abt 30 mins away. pretty exciting eh?

p1070785

my cousin pleading with his mournful eyes. he was being “harrassed” by the below 1o kids cause the rest of us disappeared masterfully.

hopefully we’ll spend more time back there.. we’re the talk of the town (cause it isnt very big haha) when we go back and we did have plenty of fun! like i said.. good times!

this is my brother

as a boy! though i cant say that ive always wanted to try this.. it was fun nonetheless!

on friday night we celebrated jessie’s birthday and went for dinner and coffee at glenelg. there was no theme in the end but i decided to make life more exciting!

apparently i was too smiley to be a boy..

so i tried my best to look more sullen. did it work?

with xiangfei, jessie and me! i picked up all the girls that night and stole jessie from her boyfriend haha.. he’s here to visit for the weekend.. how sweet!

it was fun! though everyone said i was more of a pretty boy than a handsome one ):

oh and yes please watch mr bolt run! (: must go check the olympics schedule. and its upsetting there’s no more swimming.. its day 10 already! i shall be in london to watch in 2012! (:

my first week of school

Posted in adelaide, home on Saturday, August 9, 2008 by smallwei

27th july: we arrived at the village at 1115pm.. was upset that i had to go to uni the next day! sobs. this is a stressful sem ): but anyhow.. this is about how having this special someone made it a much more enjoyable week!

actually we didnt take many photos.. but these are what i have!

the first dinner edwin cooked for me! it was awesome coming home to dinner after a night class (: and the home cooked dinners were yummilicious.. i like!

rare photo of me in specs! think it was the weekend.. went to catch a movie at marion and then to the beach at glenelg (:

that’s it. it was only when we were having dinner at matsuri (this jap restaurant near my place) the night before he flew that we took more photos!

we were waiting. and waiting. and waiting.

and then we were saved. like finally!

see how happy we are! his teriyaki chicken dinner box, my shabu shabu hotpot and salmon and hamachi sashimi (:

obviously we (with his awesomely pitless stomach) managed to finish all the food!

pleasantly surprised when we only had to pay the student price (:

it was raining when we left though.. had to wait around for a little.

and the next morning was the beginning of an upsetting day for me! long story.. ask and you shall be told! heh too embarrassing to write here.

now its time for my nap.. happy national day! (:

happy holidays!

thou shall be warned.. this is gonna be a long post!

19th july: my baby is here! woke up at 0530 so that i could reach the airport before he does.. but stupidly waited at the international instead of domestic arrivals. totally melted when i saw him though! *blush

20th july: we’re off to gold coast! luckily i was convinced to bring some shorts the weather was loverly! still chilly when the wind blows though..

 the first night:

we ate at sushi train.. it was rather late so we didnt have much choice. but we had this! its called the volcano mmm (:

at the bus stop.. where we were waiting to go to harbourtown :)

and the next day we went skydiving! took this mini-van but there were actually only two of us.. i cant rmber how long the trip to byron bay took though about an hour?

got him to pose reluctantly at the entrance :P anyhow the wind was too strong for us to go up when we reached.. so they took us to byron bay the nearby suburb.

the small very laidback town of byron bay

i like this kind of caps! sneaked a photo when edwin was checking out the tees.

byron bay

then we went for lunch at balcony..

the food was great! we managed to have good food the whole trip yummy!

they picked us up at 2 from the boring town.. we jumped from 14000 feet it was sooo cool! and my instructor was very handsome. we bought the videos so i can show you all the jump when im home :) we’ll get our license eventually!

yes i look very unglam in this photo but its the only one with us with all the equipment!

my certificate!

on the way back.. just the two of us again.. even the plane that took us up only had two people cause the rest of the people already jumped in the morning!

 right outside our apartment..

yes i was very cold. and the wind was so messing up my hair!

off to the beach at surfers paradise before heading to dreamworld!

this is a tic tac toe set! how cute (:

after that we were off to melbourne! it was raining when we left for the airport and we got cheated into taking another bus.. we were waiting for a bus, which was late.. and another bus driver saw us waiting with our luggage and convinced us to take her bus! which took another route :x in the end we had to switch back to the bus we wanted to take initially. !

pensione hotel melbourne. it was really new but the hallways were kinda dim.. think they were trying to save electricity but it just made the place look dodgy! but pretty good for the price. and the tv! took up so much of the space of the tiny room..

er i also made the mistake of booking us in one night earlier and they had originally cancelled the reservation cause we were a no show. in the end we stayed with my cousin for the last night it was all good in the end though! (:

southern cross station: it was huge! and just across our hotel (:

melbourne city: we walked around a lot, most of the grid i would say! :P

crown entertainment centre: where the casino is. it was just 5 mins walk away from our place (:

managed to capture the special effects. the heat from it was very welcome!

at the queen victoria market. we bought some gloves but thats about it. and oh the smell of the HOT DONUTS was so good! we.. okay i mean.. i wanted to try one! but it was just a donut. nothing to be excited about! heh.

mount buller here we come! we were supposed to be at the meeting point at 545. and we woke up at 5. managed to wash up, do some last min packing, check out and reach there (which was about 30 mins walk away) on time! we walked really fast *nods luckily we had already bought breakfast the day before mmm! (:

skiing! all wrapped up in the jumpsuit cause im so scared of the cold! underneath that i have 3 tops and 2 jackets.. yes i know.. dumpling!

the view was breathtaking up at the mountains! was so afraid i would drop my camera cause i had to remove my gloves and take quick snapshots while my hands were freezing.

it was horribly difficult to walk in those ski boots and because we were so smart to wear ankle socks we both ended up with bruises and blisters ):

and anyway i was a klutz when i was skiing.. clumsy as usual.. and i had to take the chairlift now all by MYSELF cause everyone else skiied down. i just couldnt cause i fell a few times before that already.. thought the guy would drive me down with snowmobile! it was tiring okay! ):

it snowed when we left though! how happy!

everyone got off the bus to take photos in the snow. ah so fun! and then it was a 3 hour ride back to the city. so tiring!

we were at the southern cross station waiting for the bus to avalon airport. luckily i stopped my cousin before he took us to the wrong airport! and i decided to take photos of our blisters. cant really see right?

tada!

i was attracted to this cafe at the crown entertainment centre.. look at the display of desserts! so on our last day we went there for tea.. after shopping around at DFO with no loots to show for it!

at greco’s

apple crumble.. very very good!

the hazelnut meringue.. wasnt as sweet as i thought it would be. pleasant surprise!

yes we were greedy and ordered 3 desserts. they were HUGE. and we didnt really touch the carrot and walnut cake. it was yummilicious though! pretty upset that they wouldnt let us take it away.

and after dinner with my cousin, cousin in law and her sister.. we were headed back to adelaide! didnt really want to come back since uni was starting. but it wasnt so bad with edwin around (: the few photos from the one week in adelaide shall be left to the next post! (:

thanking you for the awesomest two weeks my love! :*

im on my way..

to becoming a dentist :)

last tuesday i gave my first injection! *applause i thought it would be scary cause we’re practising on each other.. but its actually rather fun!

my left side is still numb from the injection today though.. took ages to eat my apple :x just wanted to express my excitement!

miss having someone to come home to..

i shall write about the trip to gold coast and melbourne with my boyfriend soon!

sick of sydney?

Posted in bds, travels on Sunday, July 13, 2008 by smallwei

not just yet! after the aquarium we went for lunch at darling harbour, at this place called im angus steakhouse. i like! seems like there’s nothing i dislike huh? :)

we were rather bored while waiting for food. and yes im also bored enough to go create the collage.

ah happiness! my smoked salmon and prawn linguini. mmm~

darling harbour we were gonna cross the pyrmont bridge and decided to take some photos.

on the bridge i convinced eugene to let me take a jump shot :)

national maritime museum.. entrance was free so we decided to go take a look

at the swimmers exhibition.. look at that woman! i thought she was a man and only wearing a very high waisted pair of swimming trunks but i realised its so low because her boobs arent where they’re supposed to be anymore! omg i dont wanna grow old.

pretty photo of the city and one of the ferries that was leaving.

the above 4 photos are my storyboard! eugene and chinhowe had to try a few times before a successful jump shot photo was taken. we then headed to star city.. their casino.

they have a lyric theatre, where they were showing phantom of the opera. didnt get to watch it again!

the escalator up to star city i like :)

when we came back.. decided to take a prettier photo of darling harbour!

decided to stop at lindt chocolatier cafe which is just next to the steakhouse we had lunch at.

and this is what we had. mmm warm chocolate cake with white chocolate ice cream.

after we cut it open.. mmm!

just to say we’ve been to queen victoria building :)

and she was wearing sneakers! i wouldnt mind a new pair actually!

back at the hotel room, freshening up before we go for dinner.

and at the ground floor of the hotel there was this hawker place. the smoke from the cooking set off the fire alarm and the fire engine was here in less than 5 mins! it was scary that we had to come down from the room though.. but quite funny when the hotel manager switched it off. and then switched the alarm on again when the fire truck was arriving. and no the firefighters werent very hot :(

that was the last night of the trip ah we should have stayed longer. im going back again definitely! :)

and here’s part 2..

Posted in bds, travels on Friday, July 11, 2008 by smallwei

of my i-like-sydney trip! after we had our very satisfying fill at the fish market.. we headed to bondi beach. ah i love!

see see so pretty! i wouldnt mind owning a beach house here.. joe doesn’t like beaches much cause there’s too much sand.. i would love to go walk along the water! we didnt this time round. but next year we are!

another photo i took along the coastal walk. thought it was nice that there were people running and jogging and bringing their dogs out for walks :)

the four of us!

standing by the rocks.. me and chinhowe climbed down towards the sea.. it was fun!

and i just wanted to demonstrate my photography skills quick chin howe thank me!

and yes this is the pool i want! its right nxt to the bondi icebergs bar and its so cooooool. its not heated though thats why people were in their wetsuits when they were swimming. and oh there were MANY surfers too. wish i were one of them!

we headed back after having ice cream at movenpick.. wouldnt mind going again in summer ah!

the next day..

we were off to manly beach, following joe’s dad’s recommendations. took the ferry there think it took about half an hour maybe?

eugene, me and chinhowe.

the view of the harbour bridge.. so pretty! we could see people at the top of it.

me, xiangfei.. and syndey who joined us for the day.

tada~ manly beach. and oh we had fish and chips there! just to say we did :) too bad i didnt get to hold the takeaway paper. well.. plenty of chances!

eugene, chinhowe, xf and me.. we got sydney to take a group photo for us. manly beach is like a suburb area. we didnt have much to do so we left after awhile.

*drumrolls

the sydney opera house :) wasnt as magnificent as its made out to be but hey at least we can all say we’ve been to it!

had our fair share of silly photos outside. so tourist-y!

as the evening came it became darker its so pretty. and so city i miss home!

yes the harbour bridge again..

me and xf in mr and mrs smith :P and han and jason brought us to the syndey aquarium the next day. they’re in dent too but live in sydney.. i like darling harbour!

xf, eugene, han and jason at the entrance

totally random but how cool is this! i wouldnt mind a pair of clear eyelids acting as goggles when i swim *nods

we got to view the crocodile from above.. and i thought the sign was more interesting than the crocodile heh.

isnt this silly? its just vegetation. at first i was still looking for whatever was supposed to be there.

and oh oh nemo! and dory! and the ugly squid and octopus. took photos of the other species but nah lazy to put them up :P

and i think this photo is cool. my scarf, my feet and the seal :)

smiling widely for the camera. we look like secondary school kids!

okay this post is getting too long will write another to finish up the trip! :)

oh sydney

Posted in bds, travels on Thursday, July 10, 2008 by smallwei

i shall miss!

my flight was at 830 am on friday.. and i only got 3 hours of sleep before that cause i got home past 1 and i hadnt packed! so when we reached sydney it was natural that i wanted to nap awhile before going out to explore the city :P anyhow our hotel was in the chinatown area.. and my first impression was “this feels just like hongkong!”

when we were walking to circular quay the first night.. i decided to start taking photos :) oh oh we had dinner at this korean restaurant “seoul-ria” mmm how yummy!

at circular quay.. waiting for joe to bring us to see the night life. he brought us to argyle. i love! it was so pretty and it was huge.. some club/pub in a historical building near the rocks.

world square: bought my shoes here the previous pair kind of died on me cause we walked too much. :( we also had ding tai fung on the last night it was newly opened. and the girls were pretty and polite! ask chin howe haha. made him stand there so i could take a photo.

they have this shop ( 85°C ) with all these little desserts. isnt this the prettiest? but they put coconut in their cheesecake yuck.

yay sydney fish market! ive decided to go there every time i go sydney :)

and this is why. our seafood platter, salmon sashimi and the lobster. mmm the sashimi was sooo good! *gives contented sigh oh we also had fresh oysters but i dont like this family of seafood so.. no photo space! heh.

alright there’re too many photos to post i shall leave them to part 2 (yes i get lazy sometimes.)

i like sydney!

*takes a deep breath

Posted in random on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 by smallwei

ahh the smell of freedom! :)

my brother says he’d rather i write another post and see me make any changes to how the site looks. hmm. there you go!

*twirls around and around

even though i wont be coming home this july.. i’ll be travelling around australia! first to sydney with chin howe, xiangfei and eugene. and then to gold coast and melbourne with my boyfriend :)

sounds like i have a packed schedule yes? actually i’ll be home alone for 10 days cause my housemates all have plans.. sobs. but well im sure i’ll find something to do!

okay im kinda lazy to blog about all that’s happened so far.. so maybe i’ll do one big update eventually.

bonsiour!
